چکیده

The relation between the branching ratios and direct CP asymmetries of B → Kπ decays and the angle γ of the CKM unitarity triangle is studied numerically in the general framework of the SU(3) approach, with minimal assumptions about the parameters not fixed by flavour-symmetry arguments. Experimental and theoretical uncertainties are subjected to a statistical treatment according to the Bayesian method. In this context, the experimental limits recently obtained by CLEO, BaBar and Belle for the direct CP asymmetries are translated into the bound |γ − 90◦| > 21 at the 95% C.L.. A detailed analysis is carried out to evaluate the conditions under which measurements of the CP averaged branching ratios may place a significant constraint on γ. Predictions for the ratios of charged (Rc) and neutral (Rn) B → Kπ decays are also presented.

When CP asymmetries in B(t) → ππ are combined using broken flavor SU(3) with those from B → Kπ and/or B → Kπ, one can obtain stringent limits on the weak phase γ which are consistent with those obtained from other CKM constraints. Experimental data in the past few years have improved to the extent that systematic errors associated with uncertainty in SU(3) symmetry breaking dominate the determi...

We discuss a potential discrepancy in an approximate relation among B → Kπ rates which, with increased statistical significance, would imply new physics in ∆I = 1 transitions. An approximate relation between CP-violating rate differences in B/B 0 → Kπ and B → Kπ is used to combine these rate differences to reduce upper limits on the two CP asymmetries. These rates and asymmetries are used to up...
